I’m also the founder of Gifting Grove, a non-profit that supports real-world opportunities to participate in the gift economy. This way of living is rooted in gratitude and reciprocity, beautifully shared to us by Robin Wall Kimmerer in The Serviceberry. Her work helps us imagine a more joyful and sustainable world, and that’s something we’re building at Gifting Grove.
When we recognize what we receive as a gift—whether it’s the beauty of nature, a friend’s smile, something handmade, or the presence of community—we cultivate gratitude for what we have, take care in what we consume, and naturally feel inspired to give back. Through this cycle, we also gain permission and energy to develop our own gifts, knowing that our community recognizes and celebrates them.
